90210’s Tristan Wilds on what’s next for Dixon

As the second season of 90210 races to it’s finale next Tuesday, there are still plenty of stories and drama to be stirred up so I rang up Dixon (aka actor Tristan Wilds) to find out the scoop as well as ask him about his non-90210 career, what he’s hearing from his many fans on Twitter and what he’d like to see Dixon go through in season 3.

Jim Halterman: What are fans going to see from Dixon the rest of the season?

Tristan Wilds: You can definitely expect some more relationship woes, to say the least. That’s definitely going to pick up. There’s going to be a lot of ups and downs. There’s going to be a lot of stuff going on in the house as well as in school. It’s going to be fun so you have to watch! Dixon always manages to find trouble somehow.

JH: Dixon seems like such a good guy but why does trouble seem to find him?

TW: I guess it’s that ‘good guys finish last’ thing. He’s definitely a good guy at heart but, you know, at the end of the day he’s a teenage kid and he always winds up finding himself into trouble when he’s just trying to have fun or do what he thinks he’s right.

JH: I guess the nature of the show is if you are in a relationship it probably won’t go smoothly but I know fans would love to see you with Silver (Jessica Stroup)?

TW: I think there will probably always be something with Dixon and Silver but, again, it’s Beverly Hills so you never know what to expect.

JH: What are the challenges for you in being on such a high profile show?

TW: I definitely think about the attention that it gets but it’s because of the fans. For me, it’s all about the fans. I thank everyone for watching but other than that I don’t think any of us really worry about it too much.

JH: Are you on Twitter and talk to your fans directly?

TW: I do have Twitter. @TristanWilds.  [Note: Wilds has over 36,000 Twitter followers!]

JH: What are you hearing from your fans?

TW: They tell me about the show and how much they love it or how much they like The Wire or The Secret Life of Bees or anything else. It’s just a lot of love and I appreciate that a whole lot.

JH: As Dixon gets older, is there a storyline you’d like to see him go through that maybe he hasn’t gone through yet?

TW: I don’t know but I think the writers are concocting something crazy for me to go through next year. I definitely want to see him get more in touch with his family. Maybe find out who his Dad is and all that. You never know.

JH: I saw that you started acting really young. Was it destiny that you were going to be an actor?

TW: I found the acting bug when I was real young. My older brother was acting at first and I just wanted to do it. I just wanted to try it and I tried it when I was young and I told my Mom I wanted to get into it professionally when I was 15. From there, the rest is history.

JH: You have a lot of experience in theater but how does it compare with your TV and film work.

TW: There are definitely things that you have to turn off and on but it’s fun. I love theater but TV and film is definitely fun as well.

JH: Any plans for your upcoming hiatus?

TW: I have a couple things but I don’t want to talk about it but I promise you it’s going to get real nice real soon.

JH: And you have a big birthday this summer, right? Any big plans to celebrate your 21st?

TW: I don’t know yet. I may have a party. I may do a couple parties. I’ll figure it out though but I’ll have some fun figuring it out. Whatever I do, it’s 21 and I gotta have fun!

JH: You’ve been an actor for a big part of your life. If you weren’t acting, what would you be doing with your life?

TW: I think I would be in music. I’m studying music now. I’d be writing. I’d be directing and learning how to produce. Teacher is another. A psychologist. There’s so much that I would want to do. There’s still so much that I want to do.

JH: A lot of the work you’ve done has been more dramatic but any interest in comedy or sitcom work?

TW: I’d love to do a comedy and make people laugh. I don’t know how funny I am but…

JH: And 90210 is already picked up for a third season. How’s that for job security?

TW: It feels good but not even for security reasons but it feels good because you get to see the whole story played out from our sophomore year to our senior year and how everything pans out.

90210 airs tonight on the CW at 8/7c with the second season finale airing next Tuesday at 8/7c.
