On the TV show “90210,” Lori Loughlin plays a mom who is obsessed with family dinners. She’s the same way in real life.

“My husband I grew up with moms who cooked. It was a decision that we’d do that with our kids,” said Loughlin, who’s promoting Barilla’s Piccolini Smiles contest, which awards $25,000 towards tuition for the best photo of a child eating Piccolini.

To get her two daughters to enjoy eating healthy foods, Loughlin said she lets the girls choose good-for-you items to add to simple dishes such as pasta.

To make it home in time to cook dinner, Loughlin said she actually asks to be in the first scene of the day — at 5:30 a.m.

“I’m done at 1:30 or 2, get home and pick up the kids from school,” she said.

The juicy season ends Wednesday with a bang, Lori said.

“It’s one of those where the viewer is saying, ‘Oh, I can’t wait until September. I can’t believe they’re making me wait an entire summer,” she said. “We drop some great bombs.”
