IT’S 90210 DAY!

a bit late… I know.

It’s 09/02/10, which means you have two options:  Either date all your checks, notes, and journal entries with a weird, semi-secret glee… or revel in 90210 with this smackdown of the old versus new show.  We know which one we’d pick…

Best Fashion
AnnaLynne McCord may have piles of Prada, but there was something about the non-labeled outfits on the original show that screamed It Girl on a weekly basis.  From acid-washed miniskirts to “Wait, you’re in tenth grade?” cocktail dresses, the original 90210 began the ’90s Lolita look that eventually took Britney Spears into infamy and beyond.
For the Win: The Originals.

Best Music
Brenda Walsh singing “Breaking Up Is Hard To Do” will always be dear to our hearts, but the new 90210 has Tilly and the Wall, The Raconteurs, and Owl City -and continues The OC’s tradition of bringing amazing indie rock into a soap opera.
For the Win:  The New Show.

Best Actors
No offense to Jason Priestly, but have you seen him in any movies lately?  Didn’t think so.  Meanwhile, the new cast of 90210 already has projects lined up for their next TV hiatus… and they don’t include a reality show a la Tori Spelling.
For the Win: The New Show

Best Scandal
Maybe it’s because Gossip Girl and Degrassi already had all the sex, drugs, and teen queens we could handle, but the new 90210 seems less risque than its previous incarnation.  After all, the first season had Kelly doing cocaine, Dylan chasing the mafia, and David Silver’s best friend shooting himself (accidentally) at a house party – and don’t even get us started on Andrea trying to join that sorority…
For the Win: The Old Show

Best Sequel Potential
Hello, Jessica Stroup going to college, meeting up with the Hellcats, and starting some sort of protest group?  We can totally see it happening.
For the Win: The New Show

KTLA: Jessica Lowndes and Ryan Eggold talks upcoming season of 90210

’90210′: ‘Undercovers’ Mekia Cox returns to shake up Dixon’s world

When we heard that Mekia Cox had been cast to replace Jessica Parker Kennedy in NBC’s buzzed-about new series, “Undercovers,” we felt we knew her from somewhere… and we did. She played Sasha, Dixon’s older, crazy girlfriend last season on “90210.”

Dixon probably thought he was rid of her after finding out that she was faking her pregnancy and he kicked her to the curb, but now Zap2it exclusively learns that Sasha and all her crazy will be back.

A CW spokesperson confirms that Cox will reprise her role as Sasha in Season 3 and she’ll be rocking Dixon’s (Tristan Wilds) world.

When we last saw the deejay, Sasha donned those pretty loud eighties-inspired shirts and big earrings. When we see her next in the episode airing October 4, Sasha will have taken on a more sophisticated look and she’s back to deliver some shocking news to Dixon.

What wrench do you think Sasha will throw into Dixon’s story line?

’90210′: Jessica Lowndes passes the ‘baby baton’ to Ryan Eggold

We actually spent “9.02.10 Day” with a couple of our fave actors from The CW’s “90210″! Jessica Lowndes and Ryan Eggold, who play Adrianna and Mr. Ryan Matthews, chatted with us right after their interview on the KTLA News Morning Show!

Of course, we had to start off with the big earthquake in the Season 3 premiere, in which Matt Lanter (who plays Liam) told us someone wasn’t going to escape unscathed.

“It definitely shakes things up metaphorically,” Lowndes tells Zap2it, then adds, “There’s definitely someone that doesn’t get out of it doing too well.”

Lowndes tells us that when we meet up with Ade, she has dropped out of school to continue her singing career. And while fans of “Navianna” may be glad to have the couple back together, it doesn’t sound like smooth sailing for them.

“I think it’s definitely hard, because she’s no longer at West Bev,” she says. “She’s trying to pursue this thing and I think she ultimately falls in love with the idea of being famous.”

The actress tells us that Ade will make some bad decisions that might not score points with the fans. “I hope that people still love her by the end of it and will see her heart,” Lowndes says.

And as for Mr. Matthews, he’ll be dealing with a whole new drama as Jen’s baby-daddy. “It’s all about the baby for me right now, which is really cool,” Eggold tells us.

Lowndes, whose character has had her own set of baby problems, says she’s passing the “baby baton” to Eggold.

“Jen is back in style as her wonderful, awful, yet endearing self,” he says. “And we’re sort of stumbling through adulthood trying to figure out how to raise a child, completely overwhelmed.”

A couple other things the stars told us made us very happy. Remember that hilarious scene with a drunken Mr. Matthews? Lowndes and Eggold tell us they had some problems with seagulls loving him a little too much!

And for the fans who have been waiting for Lowndes’ album, she’s still recording for it, but she’ll have a single out with a UK hip hop artist dropping on October 25, so look out for that!

With Annie and Naomi both having other storylines, is Liam going to get lost in the 90210 mix? —Becca
MICKEY: Liam will have his own troubles, most significantly the lack of a postal address. He gets a job, but quits when he isn’t comfortable with the dress code (or lack thereof). A good Samaritan will then invite him to move into her poolhouse — something that happens with some frequency in Beverly Hills, according to television. So yes, after leaving a job in which he has to take his clothes off, he’ll become a pool boy. Well done, Liam!

Penny in Ojai, Calif.: Give me the goods on 90210, please.
Annie and Liam will make an attempt at coupledom after they seek Naomi’s permission. Which we hear she gives them both—although, she’s in a terrible state of mind to be making such rash decisions.

Exclusive Interview: Jessica Lowndes on 90210 Season Three, New Album and More

On 90210, season two concluded with Adrianna heading off for the summer on tour.

In real life, actress Jessica Lowndes will be releasing her own album this fall. It’s a case of reality meeting fiction, and it’s one of the topics Lowndes spoke to TV Fanatic about this week. Excerpts from the interview are below…

You were recording during the show’s break. What can we expect from that?
It’s been incredible. During hiatus I started putting together an album, which is fantastic. I got to record a lot in LA and London and I teamed up with this pop artist from the UK called Ironik. We have a single coming out on October 25 in London, we just shot the music video for that.

Where is Adrianna when the show comes back?
My character is no longer in high school, she’s now touring and doing the rock star thing and is definitely a lot stronger this season. I’ve been singing since I was three; it’s the one thing in Adrianna’s life that I can totally relate to.

Give us some 90210 spoilers for your character this season.
It’s a dream role for any actress. I’ve done the drug stuff, the pregnancy thing, the love triangle, the lesbian affair and now the music. Adrianna’s addicted to the drama, and even when she’s in it, she says she doesn’t want it. If things go smoothly she gets really bored and craves that next hit of exciting or drama. It’s really interesting and its been fun because I feel like she’s growing up.

I don’t think we posted this yet and I really hope they won’t make Ian another regular. We have enough of them already *lol*

As spoiled recently, Teddy will come out of the closet sometime this fall. Since Teddy is a top-tier athlete and the some of a famous womanizing actor, Teddy has tried to repress whatever homosexual feelings he’s had in the past in order to keep up appearances. But when an event shakes up his life and removes stability and routine, Teddy will have trouble repressing who he really is. This will lead to him hooking up with a guy named Ian, a self-confident, funny guy who is very much out and comfortable with his gayness. The plan right now is to have Ian stick around at least for the third season. [Source: The Ausiello Files]
