Cristina in Millville, N.J.: What’s the deal with the newest hottie cast on 90210?
Matt Lanter heads for the infamous zip code in 2009, just in time to hit on Naomi (AnnaLynne McCord), but AnnaLynne tells us, “There’s a little twist at the end of the first episode that he comes on. They both kind of start off with crazy chemistry, like all about each other, and the ending is very interesting. So you see how it will develop after that, I’m interested to see after the New Year what the next scripts will be. The way it ends I’m like, ‘Wait, I thought we had a connection, what’s going on?’ ” Who wants to bet this is the real half brother of hers?
TEENS IN LOVE — When it comes to parenting, Debbie (Lori Loughlin) and Tabitha (Jessica Walter) don’t see eye-to-eye and their personalities continue to clash when Tabitha surprises Annie (Shenae Grimes) and Dixon (Tristan Wilds) with a new car. Ethan (Dustin Milligan) and Annie sneak away to Tabitha’s house in Palm Springs for some alone time and take full advantage of being on their own. Adrianna (Jessica Lowndes) opens up to Naomi (AnnaLynne McCord) about her secret and they immediately become friends again but Navid (Michael Steger) isn’t quite sure how to handle the news. Silver (Jessica Stroup) and Dixon hit the beach for a day in the sun and decide to make a sand castle but don’t anticipate the tsunami headed their way when Dixon reveals three little words. Rob Estes and Ryan Eggold also star. Wendey Stanzler directed the episode written by Paul Sciarrotta (#113).
Stills will be added soon!
Why does 90210 pay so much attention to Naomi? I’m much more interested in Silver and Annie’s stories. — Emily
MICKEY: I don’t know, Emily; I think the storylines have been pretty balanced so far, with the possible exception of far too little Jessica Walter (hic). That said, my West Bev moles do seem to be Naomi-focused of late. For example, if you are a fan of Paula Abdul music videos starring Keanu Reeves and/or the Fast and the Furious movies, you have much to look forward to in 2009.
Rylee in Boston: What’s the deal with Shawn on 90210? Seems pretty shady to me!
You’re not the only one, sister! Speaking of sisters, AnnaLynne McCord (Naomi) played coy about her new onscreen bro (Josh Henderson) when we started to pry: “We’re going to find out some really, really, really bad stuff about my brother. It’s going to be a crazy reveal of certain things in his past.” Being the sleuth that I am, I couldn’t leave you with something that vague. Turns out Shawn may not be the long-lost son after all! “There is a possibility that Josh Henderson’s character isn’t our brother at all. He kind of goes away for a while. So that leaves the question, who is my brother?”
Sandra: Any scoop on 90210?
I’m hearing a big storyline coming up is that Silver will have something in common with Britney Spears. No, not pregnancy. No, not lack of underwear. I’m hearing she will be diagnosed with bipolar disorder, and the storyline is pretty engrossing.
Wendy in Boston: Have we seen the last of the 90210 alums, or will anyone else come on board?
Luke Perry is coming! OK, so not the real Luke Perry (he’s still politely declining to appear), but I’m hearing that producers are in the process of casting the next best thing: a “bad-boy Luke Perry-ish type,” according to sources.
Marta Lee in Jackson, Wyo.: Are they really killing off Shannen Doherty from 90210?
According to the cast (via my colleague Marc Malkin), no. However, I am hearing that someone is going to be diagnosed with a disease, and one of our couples is breaking up. Guesses?
Lisa in Atlanta: Kristin, I’m dying without a little 90210!
It’s back Jan. 6. The cast just told me that we are going to be treated to the musical stylings of Dixon (Tristan Wilds) himself. Shenae Grimes (Annie) can’t stop raving about her TV bro: “He’s a star! You all heard it in The Secret Life of Bees.” Sounds like it may be some kind of musical episode? Dustin Milligan (Ethan) teases, “We’ll see how much some of us sing, I guess!”
