When last we saw Liam and Annie, they shared a tender moment on Liam’s hand-built boat before creepy Jasper blew it to smithereens.

Ah, but a little explosion can’t stop love on 90210, Matt Lanter tells TVGuide.com.

Liam (Lanter) has confessed to the coins, Annie (Shenae Grimes) has confessed to the crash, and now there’s nothing to stop things from heating up between them — and soon. (90210 returns Monday, Sept. 13 at 8/7c on the CW.)
“We’ll get romantic in the first couple of episodes. We share a kiss,” Lanter teased during a break from filming a rather hot scene — not involving Annie — from a future episode. (Peek at a paparazzi pic from that day.)

But things won’t stay easy for long. “It gets complicated very fast. There will be a love triangle involving Liam, Annie and Liam’s half-brother Charlie (guest star Evan Ross),” Lanter says.

“Charlie and Liam are estranged,” the actor explains. “His half-brother hasn’t been in his life so they don’t have a good relationship. Throw a girl into the mix and it’s that much worse.”

What does Charlie have that Liam doesn’t? Lanter says Charlie’s older, more educated and — look out, Liam! — into theater. “Annie’s into that,” he says. “They have that connection. They can read plays and Shakespeare together, and that’s something Liam doesn’t have — something more worldly, cultured, maybe.”

Lanter is rooting for Liam and Annie to make it long term. They’re a couple that the actor says he saw coming since Season 1.

“There’s always been some chemistry between Annie and Liam,” he says. “In the first season finale, he was really flirting with her. Picking on her, yes, but in a flirting way. She was this good girl, but also had this façade on — Liam was determined to break that down.  He was always curious about the real Annie. And I think that’s where it started. Now the’ve bonded over really personal things, so there’s an even deeper emotional connection.”

Wait, no love lost for Naomi (AnnaLynne McCord)? Lanter says the two girls are different. “Liam’s relationship with Naomi started out as a physical one and it stayed that way.  From what we saw, they never really formed an emotional attachment. But with Liam and Annie, we’ve seen it grow. It grew out of friendship.”

Having said that, Lanter says, it’s hard to choose a favorite. “I got one foot in both camps, man,” he says, laughing.

Audi celebrated red carpet style with co-hosts and Emmy-nominated actors Jane Lynch, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet on Sunday night at Cecconi’s. The star-studded cocktail party kicked off Emmy week and honored the glamour of the awards with an exclusive Chopard jewelry exhibit.

Celebrity guests were chauffeured to the fete in the all-new 2011 Audi A8 luxury sedan and, upon arrival, checked out the Audi R8 Spyder sportscar (as seen in Iron Man 2).

Co-hosts Jesse and Eric hit the red carpet in Chopard watches, and Jane sparkled in chandelier earrings and a drop necklace. Jeyma Mays, Karina Smiroff, and Nicole Scherzinger also arrived bejeweled in Chopard baubles.

Inside the party, Glee’s Matthew Morrison tested his dance skills up against Dancing With the Stars’ winner Nicole Scherzinger. The two got down to classic tunes such as Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’,” and Nicole was rocking his glasses by the end of the evening.

Other stars at the celebration included Aaron Paul, Cheryl Hines, Hill Harper, Jessica Lowndes, Joel McHale, Kate Flannery, Kathy Griffin, Olivia Munn, and Sara Ramirez, among many others.

Inspired by a “kooky” head-painting idea to make her best friend feel better after she was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma, Canadian 90210 actress Shenae Grimes has now started her own charity, Project Lemonade.

“I’m hoping to team up with a hospital in LA to have this — I don’t know what I want to call it exactly — it’s kind of like a creative endeavour of arts and crafts for the soul, involving kids who are going through the treatment process with a little light in their midst,” Grimes told Samaritanmag. “So hopefully it will take off and we can reach out to different hospitals and keep going.”

Project Lemonade won’t be all about head and body art — although, if the kids are into it, Grimes knows it will be fun for them. It will offer all kinds of arts and crafts, but that’s how the idea started.

“My best friend in LA [Laura Worthington] who is 24 years old was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma, cancer of the lymph nodes, and I decided to make her feel a little bit better and feel more confident during the whole treatment process,” recounts Grimes, 20.

“She had just shaved her head and I said, ‘Come over. We’re going to take pretty photos.’ I was like, ‘You know what would be cool? I have these paints,’ and I painted vines on her head, and she said, ‘Wow, that looks cool.’ She loved the photos, so I was like, ‘Alright, let’s keep them going; I’ll come up with other weird ideas,’ and it just kind of rolled from there.

“Sounds a little kooky,” she laughs, “but they were pretty stunning and she looked frickin’ amazing. The first thing was just oil paints and then another one we had with latex and another we did gold body paint from head to toe. She thought I was crazy, absolutely nuts!”

After about six months, the two decided to do something bigger and teamed up with St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, a leading pediatric facility in Memphis, TN, focused on finding cures and saving children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases.

“I put together a photo exhibit of 24 photos and had a silent auction [at Avalon Beverly Hills back on March 31] to raise money for the charity,” Grimes says. “I believe we raised something like $5000 or $6000.”

Grimes is also happy to report that Worthington is in remission.

“She’s completely recovered. Her hair has grown back and she’s back to reality, which is so lovely for her. She’s one of the fortunate ones.”

Matt Lanter has revealed that his 90210 character Liam will still struggle with his anger.

In an interview with the New York Post, Lanter explained that his problems will not be resolved quickly.

“That’s part of his personality,” he said. “It’s always going to be there. [In] season one he really started acting out, but that was before we got to know him.

“Now we’ve seen his vulnerable side, but it’ll always be there – even in season three, he’s already gotten into a couple of fights. He might or might not have been on a boat that isn’t his. Stuff like that.”

Lanter also revealed that he is excited about the third season and promised: “[There will be] juicy drama, complications, love triangles, backstabbing, sexual escapades and… whatever else the writers can think of!”

The third season of 90210 begins on September 13 on The CW.
