90210 Kills Off An Original Cast Member

90210 executive producer Rebecca Rand Kirshner has decided to kill off one of the original Beverly Hills, 90210 players. On the November 17 episode of the CW drama, Kelly and Silver’s alcoholic mother, Jackie Taylor (Ann Gillespie) will succumb to breast cancer. Jessica Stroup spilled all on the storyline shocker that will unravel over the coming weeks.

So, brave move here killing off an original 90210-er, eh?
I know. I know. We shot it about a month ago and it was really kind of sad having to say goodbye to Ann for the last time. She was like my second mother. You know she’s an ordained minister in Virginia. It was a pleasure to work with her. The reason my character was created on the original series was because Ann got pregnant and they wrote in her pregnancy. So I’m grateful to her and I think we’ll keep in touch.

So how did Ann feel about killing off the character she first started playing back in 1990?
It’s never nice to learn that you’re character’s dead, but I think she was actually kind of happy to find some resolution. And she pushed for the storyline to be treated with respect and dignity so those who are going through breast cancer can relate.

You also get the word out about breast cancer awareness, don’t you?
There’s a lot of mentions of Ford Warriors in Pink which is a charity with proceeds going to Susan G. Komen For the Cure. I did a public service announcement. This is a beautiful project, with T-shirts designed especially for teens.

90210’s New Surfer Chick Talks Love Triangles

While Liam (Matt Lanter) may be attempting to make amends with Naomi (AnnaLynne McCord), he’s momentarily distracted when Ivy (Gillian Zinser) arrives. She’s a cool California chick who joins the surfing team — and the West Bev boys’ club. Zinser sat down with TVGuide.com to introduce us to 90210’s version of Spicoli and to dish on how Ivy will affect Naomi and Liam’s rocky road to relationship recovery.

TVGuide.com: Ivy is the quintessential surfer chick who hangs out with the guys.
Gillian Zinser:
I got a little Spicoli going on. [Laughs] Ivy is fun as hell. She’s definitely the quintessential California girl, but she’s smart. She’s really smart and sassy and quick-witted. She’s totally one of the guys, as she’s part of the surf team and demands her respect in that manner. But a lot of that confident, bro’d out shtick is soon to be broken down when you see her vulnerable for the first time in her intimate moments with Liam. Although she joins the cast as an atypical chick, you see a lot of layers unravel and unfold the more we get to know her.

TVGuide.com: Matt Lanter told us Ivy and Liam’s relationship starts out as a fight.
Zinser:
Yeah, well, he’s all up in my grill, giving me sh–. He’s super obnoxious, so Ivy definitely throws it back in his face. She definitely doesn’t tolerate that kind of crap. I think that immediate, head-butt tension becomes some strange form of attraction. Liam definitely has a lot of respect for Ivy as he gets to know her and sees that she’s not going to let kids walk on her. He definitely finds something interesting about her, and that grows into some form of quick little crush and maybe a slight addiction. We’ve all had our thoughts about our best friends, so that will be interesting story as it unfolds.

TVGuide.com: Being the only girl in a group of guys, I would assume there’s some tension there.
Zinser:
It’s definitely her comfort zone. She’s not the kind of girl that needs makeup and mirrors to give her that ramification of confidence in the morning. She throws her sh– on, she goes out, rips her waves, she comes to school, does her sh–, she hangs out and doesn’t take life too seriously, which is definitely not the same as the other girls who are way more dramatic and girly and rightfully so. Ivy being more like guys gives her that easy-in to the group, but at the same time, she suffers that complex of being one of the dudes and not necessarily noticed as a girl when she wants to be. I relate a lot to that in real life. It’s really great being able to kick it with the guys and have genderless relationships and friendships, but there are times we all kind of wish that dude didn’t think I was such a dude and maybe looked at me as more of a girl sometimes. That’s how Liam and I develop there.

TVGuide.com: What do we learn of Ivy’s past?
Zinser:
My mom is this really rad bohemian music producer, so I’ve been raised in a really laid back, hippy-ish bohemian household. We don’t know too much about my pops quite yet; that’ll be interesting. For the most part, Ivy has her sh– together. She’s cool, calm and collected. Liam is really the introduction to Ivy’s vulnerable side. Outside of that, she’s pretty easy-going.

TVGuide.com: How is Naomi going to feel about Ivy getting close to her man?
Zinser:
How can she not help but be jealous? I’m sure there’s a lot of tension there. She’s definitely going to try to win him back at some point. I’m sure he’s going to revisit his feelings for her, but my guess is that if he leaves Ivy, he’s going to have to look back and wonder if that was the right decision. I’m sure there will be a love triangle between Naomi, Ivy and Liam inevitably.

90210’s Tristan Wilds On Cars, Women And Samantha Ronson

Tristan Wilds, who plays 90210’s Kansas transplant Dixon Wilson, is also known for his portrayal of teen drug dealer Michael on ‘The Wire.’ Just how would the rich kids at Beverly Hills High react to Michael crashing their school? Tristan talked to us about what he thinks would happen,  and what it was like working with music star Pharrell and celebrity DJ Samantha Ronson on set.

Sandy still wants Dixon even though she knows he is a high school student. What is his secret to seducing cougars or kittens?

I honestly don’t know. I guess something that has to do with charm or something.

Did you actually get to drive the Lamborghini for this storyline?

Yeah. It’s a beautiful car.

The porn movies in the trunk had such funny titles. Did the prop department actually make up hundreds of fake porn titles?

Yes they did. It was just hilarious. During breaks we would look through them and laugh.

Navid’s officially becoming a man and Michael Steger’s glad

At the end of last Tuesday’s “90210″ episode, young Navid (Michael Steger) reached a major milestone.

Adrianna decided to finally give it up to him, and yes, sure, it happened shortly after she made out with another dude… but that’s neither here nor there!

The important thing is that Navid’s no longer a virgin and you absolutely must watch this week’s ep, because you’ve never seen a boy basking in the glow of such pure bliss.

It’s brilliant.

I stopped by the “90210″ set to get Michael Steger’s take on the situation and to break the news that his girl is, in fact, a cheater.

Will Navid take Teddy on?

Steger’s talking…

Life’s A Beach For Matt Lanter, aka “Liam” on 90210

He’s got brooding good looks, a killer smile, and he gets to kiss sexy Naomi on 90210 – at least when they’re not fighting!

Yes, life’s good for rising star Matt Lanter, who plays hunky Liam, the reformed bad boy with a heart of gold , on the hit CW show.

RadarOnline.com reporter Mayleen Ramey recently invited Matt to a picnic on the beach in beautiful Malibu, California.

Matt told us he and co-star AnnaLynne McCord both hope their characters get back together – but when we asked if AnnaLynne was a good kisser, Matt slyly said: “I don’t kiss and tell,” but added with a smile, “there’s a little bit of chemistry between us.”

Mayleen also wondered if original 90210 cast member Shannen Doherty (“Brenda”) would be returning to the new version, and if Tori Spelling (“Donna”) might be coming back to the show produced by her late father, Aaron.

Hear what Matt told us –and watch what happens when Mayleen challenges Matt to a game of beach football!

5 Questions for ‘90210′ star Michael Steger

I was a fair-weather fan when it came to “90210″ last year. It had good ideas, but nothing that made me rush home at 8 p.m. to watch it live. Or play first on my Tivo. Or sometimes at all. But that has all changed with a revamped season two. Not only have the characters transformed into believable people and the plots become infinitely more intriguing, but the show has morphed into a must-watch!

Standing smackdab at the center of the rejiggered series is Michael Steger’s Navid. In addition to running The Blaze newspaper, he’s one point in nine-oh’s most potential devastating love triangle. He revealed where Navid and Adrianna are heading as well as what he’s got in store for the season finale!

PopWrap: This season has totally rehooked me — what’s the vibe on set?
Michael Steger: It’s a whole new show. It’s amazing how they changed so much, so fast. We’re lucky the CW gave it another chance because Rebecca [Rand Kirshner, the new show runner] rebuilt it from scratch. She’s made it very community based. We can express our ideas and see them incorporated into the characters.

‘90210′: Jessica Lowndes fields fan questions

This season on “90210,” Adrianna emerged with a new look, a new moniker (“No Drama Adrianna”), and a new relaxed outlook on her post-drug, post-preggers life. She was doing a good job of laying low – until last week, that is, when she almost kissed Teddy at his yacht party. Is the old Adrianna starting to resurface?

“Something is definitely going to go down,” said Jessica Lowndes, the Vancouver native who plays “90210’s” Adrianna Tate-Duncan. “It’s definitely going to get really dramatic really fast. She’s going to go back to ‘Drama Adrianna.’”

Up until now, Navid has been getting most of the flack for being jealous of Adrianna’s relationship with Teddy. Lowndes says that her character should share in some of the blame. “I think she’s in a little bit of denial with obviously the attraction that’s still there with Teddy,” Lowndes, 20, explained. “I think she realizes there that she still has feelings for Teddy, and Navid was right all along.”

Lowndes took some time out to answer not only our questions, but a few from her fans, as well:

You weren’t supposed to be a regular on “90210,” right?
When I signed on, I was only supposed to be in the first two or three episodes. Next thing I know, my character had a pregnancy and a drug addiction, and I was offered a series regular. I’m still pinching myself because this is so much more than I even thought was possible. I’m also very fortunate that they’ve given Adrianna such real, pressing issues in society, and they deal it with it in such an honest way. I try my hardest. I’m constantly challenged as an actress, because it’s all out of my comfort zone and they’re things I have no experience with.
