Rebecca in Oregon: Any hope for Naomi and Liam?
I’m told she’ll be single for a while. Sorry.

Growing up in northeastern Ohio, then Atlanta, Matt Lanter never starred in the high school musical. And he didn’t really watch much TV, either—never mind one of his older sister’s favorite shows, Beverly Hills, 90210.
“I was a boy who was outdoors, playing baseball and building tree forts,” says the newest star of that series’ 2008 reboot. In fact, it was Lanter’s love of sports that brought him to a career in acting. While working as a caddy, the young athlete caught sight of a fax soliciting extras for a movie, Bobby Jones: Stroke of Genius, about to shoot at the golf course. “I went to the open call, did some background work, and really fell in love with moviemaking. I saw Jim Caviezel on the set and realized I wanted the chance to be the one to bring a character to life.”
After attending the University of Georgia in Athens, Lanter studied and performed at Atlanta’s Alliance Theater and supplemented his income with modeling gigs, which provided a small cushion when he followed his acting dreams to Los Angeles.
“I was fortunate to have a good agent and manager who worked hard to get me auditions,” says the actor, who describes himself as “generally chill,” but constructively aggressive when pursuing a goal. “I was going to classes and studying lines every day and every night,” he says. “I never went out.”
She’s always up for a good charitable cause, and last night (March 31) Shenae Grimes was at the St. Jude’s Hospital benefit in Los Angeles.
The “90210” babe provided plenty of eye candy as she arrived, sporting a sexy black dress with beige peep-toe heels as she posed with Lily Collins and Kevin Connolly.
During a recent trip to LA’s Larchmont Village, Shenae was overheard complaining to her friends about gaining a few pounds.
According to a spy, Grimes said, “I used to be 20 pounds lighter, but that’s because I only ate cigarettes…It wasn’t on purpose, I was young.”

Please be patient but updating takes a lot of time here
Op has tapped a group of up-and-comers from shows such as “Glee” and “Gossip Girl” for its spring ad campaign. R&B singer Cassie joins “Glee” actors Dianna Agron and Cory Monteith, along with Jessica Szohr of “Gossip Girl,” in summer block party-inspired images, shot at Universal Studios in California. Ads will launch in the May issues of Elle, Teen Vogue and Cosmopolitan. Teen Vogue and Seventeen will have ads printed on metallic paper, to further integrate the campaign’s theme of “rock your shine.”
Op, which is sold exclusively at Wal-Mart, is expanding its online presence this season, with behind-the-scenes photos and b-roll on the brand’s Facebook page and its Web site. This isn’t the first time the California-inspired brand has gone the celebrity route in its ads: Last year’s Op campaign featured “90210” starlet AnnaLynne McCord. “One Tree Hill” actress Sophia Bush, Solange Knowles and Brody Jenner from MTV’s “The Hills.”

Jessi in Newport Beach, Calif.: Thanks for the 90210 love a few weeks ago. I’m hooked, too! Anything good coming up for Silver and Teddy?
If by “good” you mean Teddy’s superstar father (Ryan O’Neal) coming back into the picture and messing things up, then yes—sadly for this 90210 twosome. “There’s going to be issues between my father and I and my father and Silver,” Trevor Donovan tells us. “And Teddy trying to balance out his relationship with his tennis career.”
Markie in Rhode Island: More 90210, please.
Annie’s going to conduct a very damaging confession letter on her laptop, and while she don’t have any reason to pass it along in the next few episodes, it might just come to light at an inconvenient time. Meanwhile, Ivy and Dixon will overcome their sadness over losing Liam and Silver by faux-coupling up themselves.
Actress Jennie Garth stopped by the studio to talk about her new Garden Party venture and her departure from 90210.
Garden Party is iVillage’s new web series that will give families new ideas of how to add more vegetables to their diets. Garth will be showing off new produce each month, as she meets with different people involved in making vegetables a larger part of their lives.
A Urbana, Illinois native, Garth started taking dancing and modeling classes after her family moved to Arizona when she was 13. At 15 she was encouraged by a talent scout to pursue a career in acting and soon landed herself in roles on the tv shows A Brand New Life and Beverley Hills, 90210. Her other acting credits include the movie The Last Cowboy and her role on the hit tv show What I Like About You.
Watch the Garden Party each week on iVIllage.
The CW’s reboots of 90210 and Melrose Place return from hiatus tonight, and, let me guess: You don’t care. And I don’t blame you. I myself stopped watching 90210 halfway through a first season so tiresome that I was nodding off before the first commercial. And while Melrose Place did delight for several weeks, periods of dullness eventually began to creep in.
But now both shows are better than they’re given credit for, and they have serious potential to be great. Plus, they each boast a cast of characters I’m not ready to say goodbye to. Much to my relief, 90210 has been picked up for a third season, but Melrose Place is teetering on the edge of preemptive cancellation. So here’s my appeal to set your DVRs and get watching.
90210: New and improved!
How has 90210 rebounded from that mess of a first season? Peripheral characters, like Adrianna and Liam, have been moved to the forefront. Flat storylines (who cares about those parents, anyway?) have been dropped. The angst level has been recalibrated—there’s enough to make for good TV, but the show is sufficiently lighthearted to keep viewers entertained.
I wish The CW would quit endlessly teasing the upcoming same-sex relationship between Adrianna and Gia (Rumer Willis), but I’m confident the rest of the season will be about more than just ratings-grabbing liplocks. I’m dying to find out, for example, what’s going on with Jasper, the creepy drug-dealer who’s now got accidental murderess Annie under his thumb.
[...]
Look, it’s not high art, and Melrose Place still has a lot of growing to do. But given how drastically 90210 improved from one season to the next, I bet Melrose Place will prove its haters wrong—provided it has the chance.
